May 8th 2014 – The inhabitants of the San Sebastián de Bachajón ejido, members of the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandona Jungle, denounced “with profound range the paramilitary forces of the Bad Government who killed Galeano [Zapatista José Luis Solís] as a way to put an end to the autonomy of communities that resist the capitalist system”. In the same way, they said, the Bad Government had Juan Vázquez Guzmán murdered (in 2013), along with Juan Carlos Silvano (in 2014). These murders were also perpetrated in the hope of “ending our peaceful struggle for the land and liberty of our people”.
They gave thanks for all of the messages of solidarity from Mexico and throughout the world, and also to “the free media that spreads our words to places that we could not”. They also called on these sympathisers to “continue fighting from your geographical locations in whatever ways you can”.
They denounced the fact that “the government does not rest in its search to privatise our land in order to do business and destroy our community and our culture”. They also affirmed that “on May 2nd, the judge said once again that our protection is not possible”, proving that “Bad Justice does not protect the territories of indigenous people”. However, they emphasised that “the People will have the last word and we won’t give in. We are prepared to give our lives for our Mother Earth”.
Finally, they saluted all of the “comrades and communities in Mexico and the world who resist the dispossession and death that the capitalist system brings”.
