President Nicolas Maduro promoting peace: “. . .what we want in the street is peace, coexistence, democracy and socialism,” said Maduro at Miraflores Presidential Palace, in Caracas, last Thursday night.
According to the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Venezuela led the region in poverty reduction in 2012. In addition, over 500,000 new homes have been created under Venezuela’s Housing Construction program for the poor. Further, the opposition’s Democratic Unity (MUD) coalition lost four national elections over the last sixteen months. Elections, which, according to President Carter, are among the fairest in the world.
